Walk For A Cure - Edinburgh

I'm taking part in Walk For A Cure

I'm taking part in Walk For A Cure because I want to help end the devastation of dementia.

Alzheimer's Research UK is the UK's leading dementia research charity, dedicated to finding a cure.

Research is our only chance of stopping dementia in its tracks and offering hope to the many families affected.

Your donation will fuel cutting-edge research that could uncover new life-changing treatments, bringing us closer to a cure.

Thank you for your support.

Why I’m Walking for Alzheimer’s Research UK

Monday 18th May
Alzheimer’s disease currently has no cure. However, increasing public awareness and funding research is incredibly important. Every pound raised helps scientists work toward finding a cure, delaying the onset of symptoms, or developing better ways to identify the disease early on.
To help support this work, I am taking part in a fundraising walk for Alzheimer’s Research UK. This cause matters deeply to me because of the direct impact the disease has had on my own family.

My motivation for this walk comes from my grandparents, Wilma and Tom.

Remembering my Gran, Wilma: My gran sadly passed away, and taking part in this walk is a meaningful way to honor her memory.

Supporting my Papa, Tom: My papa is currently living with Alzheimer’s. Seeing how the disease affects him firsthand is a constant reminder of why new treatments and research are so badly needed.

While I am raising money through this walk, the daily, essential work happens at home. My papa is able to stay safe and comfortable because he is fully cared for by my mum and her partner, Paul. Full-time caregiving requires an incredible amount of patience, dedication, and hard work. I am deeply grateful for everything my mum and Paul do, and this walk is also a way to recognise and support their efforts.

If you would like to support my walk, any donation, no matter the size, makes a tangible difference to the research teams working on this disease. If you aren't able to donate, sharing this post to help raise awareness is just as valuable.
Thank you so much for reading, and for supporting my family and everyone affected by Alzheimer's.
