My Updates

Team Franklin are taking part in a sponsored walk to raise money for Alzheimers Research UK. We are Walking in Memory of My Dad

Friday 15th May
My Dad was full of life.  He served in the Metropolitan Police for 27 years and performed in amateur dramatics both singing and acting.  He met my Mum, moved to Dorset and had me.  He was a great Dad and we had so much fun.  Unfortunately he had his first heart attack when I was 10 years old and another 2 during my teenage years.  I remember being constantly worried about him.  Then Alzheimers crept in slowly when I was 18 and he in his late 50's.  Alzheimers takes effect in each person differently.  For us it was a long slow decline that eventually took him 18 years later.  He was unable to be at my wedding as he was very poorly and in a care home at that stage.  What he went through and what we went through was sad and cruel.  We watched a man that could light up a room turn into someone we didnt know anymore.  Please help to stop this happening to other families.  We need to find a cure for this cruel disease as soon as possible.  Thank you for listening to my story.
