We're walking for a cure - because dementia has touched our family in the most heartbreaking way.
I’m taking part in Walk for a Cure alongside my husband Jonathan and our two amazing daughters, Annabelle and Flora, because we know firsthand the devastation that dementia brings.
My Grandad is living with dementia, and over time this cruel illness has slowly stolen away many of the wonderful traits that made him who he is. At 95, he’s now a shadow of his former self, and for all of us who love him, it’s incredibly painful to witness.
He and my Nana have been married for over 72 years - a truly inspiring couple. But dementia doesn’t just affect the person diagnosed. We’ve watched its impact ripple through our family, especially on my Nana, who continues to love and care for him with quiet strength.
So Grandad - this walk is for you. We love you, and we walk with hope for a future where no family has to go through this.
