My Updates

My Wonderful Nan

Tuesday 2nd Jun
There are some people who leave footprints on our hearts that never fade, and for me, that person was my wonderful Nan.

Nan was the kind of person who made everyone feel loved, welcomed, and cared for. Whether it was through her warm smile, kind words, or simply being there when someone needed her, she had a way of making people feel special. Family was everything to her, and she dedicated so much of her life to looking after those she loved.

Some of my favourite memories are the simple moments we shared together. The conversations, the laughter, the stories she would tell, and the comfort of just being in her company. She taught me so much about kindness, patience, strength, and unconditional love. These are lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

As a family, we watched Nan face the challenges of Alzheimer's disease. It was heartbreaking to see such a wonderful person affected by this cruel condition, but even as the disease progressed, the love she had for her family remained. Alzheimer's may have changed many things, but it could never take away the incredible person she was or the impact she had on all of our lives.

On 28th November 2025, we sadly said goodbye to Nan. Losing her has left a space in our hearts that can never truly be filled. Yet alongside the sadness is immense gratitude. We were lucky enough to have known her, loved her, and been loved by her.

Nan's legacy lives on through her family, through the memories we share, and through the values she passed on to us. Every time we tell a story about her, laugh at a memory, or show kindness to someone else, a part of her lives on.

This is one of the reasons I have chosen to take part in the Walk for a Cure. I am walking in Nan's memory and in the hope that one day families will no longer have to experience the heartbreak that Alzheimer's brings. Every step I take will be for her, and for all those affected by dementia.

Nan, you were loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure. Thank you for every hug, every laugh, every lesson, and every memory.

Forever in our hearts. 💜
