I'm taking part in Walk For A Cure

I'm taking part in Walk For A Cure because I want to help end the devastation of dementia.

I sadly lost my grandad to dementia a few years ago. I miss him every day. I want to help raise money so other families don’t have to go through the struggles of losing somebody to dementia. And more importantly, to make my Grandad proud. 

Alzheimer's Research UK is the UK's leading dementia research charity, dedicated to finding a cure.

Research is our only chance of stopping dementia in its tracks and offering hope to the many families affected. 

Your donation will fuel cutting-edge research that could uncover new life-changing treatments, bringing us closer to a cure.

Walking in memory of Derek Stubbs

Wednesday 21st May
The reason I am walking for Alzheimer’s Research, is in memory of my grandad, Derek Stubbs. 

He was the kindest, most gentle man you could ever meet. He taught me everything I needed to know about music, spent hours completing jigsaws with me, and even invented ‘over the bed’ table tennis. We played card games for hours on end and watched funny world webcams of people getting married in Vegas. There was never a dull moment with him. He was a bundle of joy, fun and light. 

It was devastating when we received the diagnosis of dementia. Even though this altered his life and my families life drastically, he never lost his sense of humour and smile. 

I hope that raising money towards a cure means my future family won’t have to battle dementia quite like how we do now. Every steps matters. 

I’m looking forward to walking in memory of my Grandad. Memories with him remain my favourite memories of all time.
