Walking for our Dada 🧡
This year November marks five years since we lost our grandad to vascular dementia. July 2nd will also have marked his 95th birthday. Five years gone and it still catches me off guard, how much we miss him. He was my grandad, my best friend, and one of the best people I've ever known.
Our grandad absolutely loved walking. It didn't matter where, whether it was the high street, the library, the fried chicken shop... he was always on the move and always up for a wander. So when we decided to take on this walking challenge in his memory, it just felt right. Like he'd be right there beside us...
Dementia took so much from him, and from our whole family. Anyone who has been through it with someone they love will know there are no words that really do it justice. It changes everything, quietly and then all at once.
My sister and I are walking to raise money for people who are working every single day to make sure fewer families have to go through this. Alzheimer's Research UK are doing that work, and we want to help them do more of it.
