I'm taking part in Walk For A Cure
Walking in memory of our beautiful Nanny Brenda
In May 2024, we lost our beautiful Nanny Bren to dementia and Alzheimer’s disease.
Not long before she passed, she was still our Nan; bubbly, full of life, always ready with a story to tell. She’d make the best toast, and there was nothing better than sitting beside her, cuddled up in her armchair, just talking and laughing together.
Then, so quickly, everything changed.
Dementia took hold, and the woman we knew began to fade. She went from being full of warmth and personality to someone who could no longer care for herself, or recognise the life she had once lived. Watching that happen is something I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
These diseases don’t just affect memory, they take away a person’s identity, their independence, and the moments that make them who they are. They slowly steal the people we love, long before we have to say goodbye.
Dementia and Alzheimer’s can be hereditary, and I never want to see another member of my family go through what Nan did. No family should have to watch someone they love disappear in this way.
I’d give anything to sit with her one more time, to hear one more story, to share just one more moment together.
That’s why I’m walking in her memory and supporting Alzheimer’s Research UK. They are the UK’s leading dementia research charity, working towards a cure and a future where no one has to go through this.
Research is our only real hope of stopping dementia in its tracks.
If you’re able to donate, no matter how small, you’ll be helping to fund vital research into treatments and, one day, a cure- so that other families don’t have to experience this heartbreak.
Thank you so much for your support 🤍

All good wishes Lizzie, such a good cause 💕
