Walk For A Cure - Birmingham

I'm taking part in Walk For A Cure

For our family, dementia isn't just something we've read about or seen on the news - it's something we've lived with every day.

Five years ago, my mum, Lyn, was diagnosed with vascular dementia. Since then, we've watched a heartbreaking and rapid decline. The woman who was once the heart of our family, full of love, laughter, memories and stories, has gradually been taken from us piece by piece.

As a son, watching my mum's world become smaller has been incredibly difficult. As a husband and father, it's also hard knowing that my wife Michelle and our daughters, Gracie and Esme, are witnessing the impact dementia has on the people we love. Dementia doesn't just affect one person - it affects entire families.

There have been moments of sadness, frustration and helplessness, but there have also been moments that remind us why this fight matters. Every family deserves hope. Every person diagnosed deserves the chance of a future where dementia is no longer a devastating diagnosis.

That's why we're taking part in Walk For A Cure.

We're walking for Lyn. We're walking for the millions of families affected by dementia today. And we're walking in the hope that one day no family will have to watch a loved one disappear before their eyes.

We're proud to support Alzheimer's Research UK, the UK's leading dementia research charity, dedicated to finding a cure. Research is our only chance of stopping dementia in its tracks and giving future generations hope.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help fund pioneering research into dementia and bring us closer to life-changing treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

If you're able to support us, we would be incredibly grateful.

Thank you for helping us walk for Lyn, for our family, and for every family facing dementia. ❤️
