About the event

Join us at Ditchley Park, Enstone, Chipping Norton OX7 4ER and help bring us closer to a cure. Whether you are hike-curious or a seasoned trekker looking for your next challenge, there is something for everyone. Choose from a 6km, 22km, or 35km walk.

Registration

Registration is now closed for all the Cotswolds events.

We charge a small registration fee for hikes to help cover event costs.
6km: £15 (under 16's go free)
22km: £25 
35km: £30

Aim to raise £250 or more (£200 for the 6km) and make a vital difference in helping us find a cure for dementia.

Route

We have a choice of three distances: 6km, 22km and 35km. All routes start and finish in the heart of Ditchley estate surrounded by 300 acres of beautiful woodland and nature trails. 

We welcome children on the 6km hike. The 22km and 35km is adult only. 16-17-year-olds can take part if accompanied by an adult.

Start times:
35km - 8:30am
22km - 9:30am
6km - 10:30am

Accessibility

Due to the nature of the terrain, this event is not suitable for those with mobility issues, or those with pushchairs.

We are unable to accept dogs at our Cotswolds walks due to private land permissions and livestock on route.

Facilities

Toilets and catering will be available within the event village. For the longer distances, rest stops will be available along the route for refreshments and toilets. Details of these will be shared prior to the event.

How to get here

Charlbury Train Station is 10 miles from the Event Village.

Onsite parking is available adjacent to the Event Village. Access to the site is via the village of Over Kiddington to the East of Ditchley.

It was great to take part in the Walk For A Cure event and see so many people coming together determined to make their contribution to finding a cure for dementia. Participants included people living with a dementia, their carers and people, like me, remembering loved ones who had died with dementia. It was inspirational to see so many traveling many miles to raise money to fund such essential research.

I felt very chuffed and proud to be there, that people had sponsored me and that my friends came to support. I was also proud to be raising awareness of dementia. I really enjoyed being together with other people and I felt safe. I wasn’t even tired as I approached the finish line. I’d definitely do it again.
I want to see developments in research so I and other people can get an earlier and more accurate diagnosis. Dementia is crippling and in a strange way it feels worse than falling over and hurting yourself. Dementia is there all the time, and a cure would take away the hurt.

We signed up for Walk For A Cure because we want to support the research into finding a cure for dementia. We were really excited about taking part and there was a great buzz from all the walkers with people chatting to each other and sharing experiences. We all had something in common - we knew someone living with or having lived with dementia. It was a very well organised event and we will definitely do it again.

I took part in the walk because it's something I could do. There's no way I could run or even walk a marathon for the charity – that's not me at all – but I can walk 5km and I’ve met a lot of people who can walk 5km so it's accessible for many. For anyone who is thinking of taking part in a Walk For A Cure event, I would say go for it! It's fun, friendly and it's easy. Raising funds and awareness is so important because we need to overcome dementia by finding a cure. I have two grandsons now – I don’t want them growing up in a world with dementia.
