Watching a parent slowly change because of this cruel disease is heartbreaking. Every day we learn how to support her, and as siblings we take turns to make sure she’s cared for in the best way possible.
The loss of control, the fading identity, the mood changes, the slipping vocabulary — it all makes life harder for her, and for us. Conversations shrink. Interaction fades. Stimulation becomes difficult. It feels like the disease takes them away piece by piece.
It’s painful. It’s exhausting. And it hits every family member.
