I'm taking part in Walk For A Cure
Last year, I lost my beloved dad, Zahir, after his long journey through vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s. Watching someone you love slowly fade while their spirit still shines is one of the hardest things I have had to go through. But my dad faced it all with quiet strength, and he will always be remembered for the love, kindness, and wisdom he brought into our lives.
This year, I’m walking in his memory — to honor him, to raise awareness, and to support others affected by these devastating conditions. Every step I take is for him, and for the millions of families still on this path.
Please consider donating to help fund vital research, care, and support for those impacted by dementia and Alzheimer’s. Together, we can keep their memories alive — and work towards a future with more hope.
Alzheimer's Research UK is the UK's leading dementia research charity, dedicated to finding a cure.
Research is our only chance of stopping dementia in its tracks and offering hope to the many families affected.
Your donation will fuel cutting-edge research that could uncover new life-changing treatments, bringing us closer to a cure.
Thank you for your support.

Walking in Memory of My Dad 💜
Wednesday 3rd SepThis year is especially important to me as it’s the first birthday since my dad passed away. I wanted to do something meaningful to honour him, so I’ve decided to take part in this walk to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK.
You may notice that there isn’t a huge amount written on my fundraising page. The reason for this is simple—it’s incredibly hard to find the right words. Alzheimer’s is a cruel illness that slowly takes away the person you love, piece by piece. Watching my dad go through it was heartbreaking, and even now, it’s painful to talk about. Writing down those feelings is something I really struggle with.
What I can say is that my dad meant the world to me. Alzheimer’s not only changed his life, but it affected our whole family. No family should ever have to experience that pain, which is why I’m so determined to do this walk.
Even though I struggle with walking long distances, I’m going to take my time and complete it in his memory. I know he will be looking down, and I hope he feels proud. My daughter Amelia has even said she’d love to join me, which makes this even more special.
The walk falls on his birthday, making it the perfect way to celebrate his life and raise money for such an important cause. Every donation, no matter the size, will help fund vital research and bring hope to families like mine.
Thank you for supporting me—it means more than words can say 💜
