I've never been a part of any sort of walk or marathon, but this fundraiser pulled at my heartstrings in a special way. My grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's recently. Watching someone you love suffer because of dementia is a pain that I can't even begin to describe, and what's worse is that I, as well as everyone close to her, feel so powerless to stop it; all we can do is support her, but we can't take the pain and fear away, and that breaks my heart. By contributing to this walk I feel slightly less powerless, maybe by spreading the word and raising money we can finally put an end to this earth shattering disease.
