I'm taking part in Walk For A Cure because I want to help end the devastation of dementia.
Alzheimer's Research UK is the UK's leading dementia research charity, dedicated to finding a cure.
My Step Mum passed away from dementia in July 2024, she had suffered memory loss over a 5 yr period. It’s hard when your loved one no longer recognises you, heartbreaking emotional rollercoaster. The times they do remember you is such an amazing feeling. I never knew anything about this disease until mum had it then I researched all I could, so that I knew the best way to help her. After 4 yrs I had to make the tough decision to enter her into a care home. The local council adult services were remarkable
I decided that I should honour mum by recruiting a team to do this walk. So a big upfront thanks to all my team before hand for walking on Sunday 8th June 2025
Research is our only chance of stopping dementia in its tracks and offering hope to the many families affected.
