I'm taking part in Walk For A Cure
I'm taking part in Walk For A Cure because I want to help end the devastation of dementia.
Sadly, at the beginning of April, after living with Alzheimer’s for a number of years, I lost my amazing Nan. She was the heart of our family, with such a zest for life.
Slowly losing Nanny bit by bit over the years following her diagnosis was incredibly painful and deeply emotional for all of us to witness. To see her vibrant personality and energetic way of life slowly fade away was something so difficult to process.
She went from a strong, independent, and proud woman—dancing, playing bowls, entering baking competitions, and caring for her family—to eventually being bedbound, relying entirely on family and care staff, and no longer recognising the loved ones around her. This was devastating to all of us.
She spent the final years of her life in that bed until the cruel disease took her from us for the last time, peacefully in her sleep, on the 4th of April 2025.
Research is our only chance of stopping dementia in its tracks and offering hope to the many families affected.
Your donation will fuel cutting-edge research that could uncover new life-changing treatments, bringing us closer to a cure.
Thank you for your support.
I love you Nanny, this walk is for you x
