I'm taking part in Walk For A Cure

This year,  me and my family are taking part in Walk For A Cure to support everyone affected by dementia—whether you’re living with it yourself or supporting a loved one who is.

In December, I lost my beautiful Grandma to Alzheimer’s disease. She was the kindest, most elegant woman—someone who carried herself with grace and took deep pride in her family. Her diagnosis came just two months before she passed—far too late. It was scary and new and we didn’t know how to navigate the illness or help her. Finding out how little help was out there was a shocking reminder of how much progress is still needed in terms of awareness, early detection, treatment, and support.

Alzheimer’s is a cruel illness. It slowly steals the person you love, piece by piece, and it left us heartbroken and helpless watching my grandma loose herself so fast in those last few months.

I’m walking in hope that research will one day lead to a cure—or at the very least, better treatments and stronger support for those living with dementia and the families who care for them. No one should have to endure what my Grandma did, and no family should face such a painful, confusing loss. 

We are walking for Alzheimer’s Research UK, I know it’s not a sky dive or anything extreme but it’s about coming together with people who have the same goal. Alzheimer’s Research is the UK’s leading dementia research charity. Their work is vital and with continued support, it offers real hope for the future.
