Our Ba
Monday 4th May My grandmother, my beloved Ba sadly passed away with Alzheimer’s. She was a loving, kind, and beautiful soul who was cherished by her family and warmly remembered by everyone she met.Ba lost her husband, My Dada. Due to her advanced dementia, she was unaware of his passing. Watching her go through this was incredibly difficult for me, especially knowing there was nothing I could do to ease her confusion.
Dementia is often spoken about, but its true impact is only understood when you witness a loved one endure it. My Ba was a strong, vibrant woman who loved being surrounded by her family and found joy in cooking for those she cared about.
As the illness progressed, it gradually took over her life. She became bedbound, lost her ability to speak, and could no longer eat independently. It was heartbreaking to see someone I loved so deeply go through such a decline.
In her memory, I hope to raise funds for Alzheimer’s UK to support the fight against dementia and help move closer to a cure—so that other families may be spared the pain we have experienced.
Any donation, no matter how small, will make a difference. All contributions will be made in Ba’s name, as a tribute to her life and legacy.
