I'm taking part in Walk For A Cure
We're taking part in Walk For A Cure because we've seen close up how dementia steals everything of value from so many people, little by little. That's what happened to John Hallett, my dad. He lost so much more than his memory - peace of mind, dignity, ability to make choices. Before dementia he was a man who naturally took the lead, a man who was bold and confident in making difficult life decisions. As dementia tightened its hold on him, he was confused, scared, angry at those who tried to help him. He didn't know us, he didn't remember his beloved wife who had died years before. It is heartbreaking to see anyone reduced in this way, let alone someone you love. He died in March 2025, but we had been losing and grieving him for long before that.
So far, Aidan has helped fund 9 hours of essential lab time for our amazing scientists.
