Walk for a Cure - Edinburgh, Holyrood Park

I'm taking part in Walk For A Cure

I'm taking part in Walk For A Cure because every 3 minutes dementia steals a happily ever after. Research is our only chance of changing the ending for people affected by dementia.

Alzheimer's Research UK are the UK's leading dementia research charity. They exist for a cure.

Your donation helps scientists and researchers find new ways to diagnose dementia, develop new treatments and find a cure for dementia.

My Updates

Dementia it affects us all in some way.

Wednesday 17th Apr
My dad was/is my hero, I never thought anything could stop him climbing munros or traveling  across the planet.
But something did.
After seeing my dad , after sometime I could tell right away something wasn't right.
I had experience with working with Dementia patients when I did care.
I knew right away almost, this is what dad had.
After that dad lived with Dementia for 8 or 9 years.
He got Dementia young in his mid 60s.
It was & is still very sad for us all.
Later on a few months before his death, my dad finally had got in a home suitable for him.
Me and my kids got to spend time with him doing joyful things.
I miss him everyday.
This year on my birthday it will be 4 years since he passed.
We have another close family member, who is now in a home with Dementia.
She's an amazing lady, she is now 94.
Will be 95 this year on her birthday!
We cared for her for 2 & half years in her own home but now she's in the best place for her.
We love her very much.
Dementia is sad for those with it & for their families/ friends.
It's so important to find joy in each day, even on those really tough days. ♡
